Quinta da Fajã is a working farm and is situated on the eastern hills of Funchal with an enchanting view over the town and the sea.  It is approximately 15 minutes from the airport by car, and it is about the same time into the centre of Funchal with its restaurants and shops.  

Sea bathing is possible in various nearby swimming pool complexes and beaches. The famous Palheiro Gardens and golf course is 5 minutes away by car. From the “Quinta” there are a great variety of walking possibilities in the hills and mountains which are easily accessible  some on foot, including the famous “levadas”.  Although a car is the most convenient mode of transport, there is a local bus service from outside the Quinta’s main gates.

 The property is about 300 metres above sea level which makes the climate very pleasant. Day time shade temperatures range from 16°c/20°c in winter to 22°c/26°c in summer. Besides the numerous vines, vegetable plots and fields of birds of paradise flowers (Estrelitzia), there is a charming and interesting mixture of big old trees, bushes, wonderful subtropical flowers and other plants. Each house has its own garden, and the whole area is covered with beautiful garden paths.
